Does Belly Bandit really help?
I’ve only used it with this third pregnancy, so I don’t know what I’d say to a first timer – I didn’t have so much trouble then. But after my second my muscles were so wrecked because I was HUGE, that I bought the band this time around to give support. I knew I’d gotten my money’s worth before I even left the hospital. Although I was using it to help support while my muscles recovered (which it did well), I also got lots of compliments about how great I looked and how quickly I slimmed down, which was a plus! About the time I delivered I had a 42″ belly, and I was wearing I size Small band before two weeks went by.
How are the sizing suggestions?
They are pretty right-on. I did need two bands, as they suggest.
Is the Bamboo really worth the extra money?
YES – you can’t believe how much nicer it is than the original. I ended up with three bands because I purchased the first 2 on eBay. I got one bamboo and one original in a set (two different sizes). The bamboo is soft like a T-shirt, while the original is much stiffer. I never wore the original and ended up ordering a second bamboo version. I’m not one to spend lots of money just for luxury, but if you’re going to buy a band, I’d say its only worth buying the bamboo version.

I don’t usually review products. As a mother of two I rarely have the time, but I felt this was worth it. I really wish I would have known about this product the first pregnancy. I had a 10 pound baby by c-section, and my stomach was destroyed. I still looked 5 months pregnant after 6 months because my muscles were so loose (despite yoga and pilates and being a size 4). I also had a lot of loose skin that was really ugly even under clothes. This time around I had to have another c section and can’t say enough about the magic of this thing!! I bought a small to start but couldn’t wear it right away but didn’t want to buy a size down, because I was just on the verge. So I used a 6″ wide ace bandage for the first 3 days. Then I wore the belly bandit and it’s been about 11 days now. My stomach is soooo much better than last time. Still kind of bulgy, and I still have loose skin, but I look as good now, 11 days later as I did after doing yoga and pilates for 8 months. Not kidding. I just bought the extra small and it arrived today. I was surprised that I went from a small to an xs in 11 days, but I feel it was totally worth the cost. So as far as your stomach’s appearance, I can say that this product is worth every penny, even if you do have to buy two or even three.
Now, on to how it feels. Seriously, after a c-section, this was a godsend. Last time around, I was on pain medication for what seemed like forever. As soon as I put this on, the pain was lessened significantly, and I’m just shocked that the hospital doesn’t use compression immediately after a c-section. Even the ace bandage helped with support and for lessening the pain. But this was much much easier to put on, and I didn’t have to re-adjust it after every few hours like the ace bandage. It is so soft and supportive. I can’t say enough about how much it helps with the pain of a c-section. It was night and day compared to my recovery last time.
I would recommend getting your partner to help you put it on. I lay down, and have my husband wrap me because it’s easier for him. I can do it myself though. Definitely wrap yourself lying down so you can get it nice and tight, that way it doesn’t ride up or down as you move around during the day. I wear it 24 / 7. I use a bella band underneath so I don’t have to wash it so often. I wear it slightly looser at night because it seems more comfortable that way

I didn’t use a band during my first pregnancy/ cesarian and my recovery was long and painful. Second time around (also cesarian but planned this time), I got this in advance after some other women recommended getting a compression band. I agree with another reviewer that some sort of compression band should be mandatory for post-c-sections to speed up recovery. It really does help! Trying to get up without the band the first time around was utter pain. After putting on the band and getting up from the bed was a lot less painful. I felt very good after less than 2 weeks this time around. With the bandage, I felt that it held my insides in. By the end of the first week I could actually sleep on my side with no problem and my belly does look noticeably smaller. I don’t know if it’s because of the band but I think it did really help.
First time on, I could barely fasten it (I got a medium). Within 2 weeks, it feels almost too big. I got the bamboo band which I figured would be more comfortable if I was wearing it all the time so can’t compare to the original but this one is very soft and comfy.
I highly recommend this for any woman, post partum, with cesarian delivery.

Do yourself a favor and save your money! This thing is awful. I wore it for 2 days and I already can’t wear it anymore. Here are all the things I don’t like about it. It already has creases in the back, it rides up all the time, you can totally see it through your clothes although it claims you can’t and it GAVE ME A RASH!! Also the sizing chart isn’t all that accurate. According to the chart I am a medium and really I should have got a small. I don’t blame them for that though because there is no way for them the know what size you will be postpartum. Trust me, go with a different wrap!

This product was great the first couple of uses. It then began to stretch and was soon too big after my stomach reduced in size after week 2. I could purchase a smaller size, like the company suggest, but I don’t think it is worth the price. A Squeem or Flexee would be a lot better for the price. My husband even thinks a regular ace bandage would be a better bargain. I would have to agree with him.
